" Elegant Lavender Bread "

2 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

2 cups sugar

1 Tblsp. crushed dried lavender (I crush mine with the

pestle or mortar)

1 cup butter or margarine (softened)

2 tsp. vanilla extract

4 eggs (large)

1 cup sour cream

1/4 milk or soy milk

Makes two 8 1/2 X 4 1/2 loaves. Grease loaf pans.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix flour, baking soda and salt in medium bowl and set aside.

In large bowl beat butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy

about 3 minutes. Beat in eggs one at a time beating well after each

addition. In a small bowl combine sour cream and milk, stir to mix.

On low speed alternately beat in flour mixture and sour cream mixture

in 3 additions, beginning and ending with flour.

Divide between the two pans and bake for 50-55 minutes. Test by

inserting a toothpick. Remove from oven and cool 10 mins.on wire

rack. Remove from pans and continue cooling on wire rack.

Drizzle is optional and I never use it but I will include the

instructions:

1/4 cup water

1 Tblsp. lavender flowers

3/4 cup confectioners sugar.

Microwave water and lavender for 30 seconds and let steep for 5

mins..

Strain lavender out of water and discard.

When water is cool whisk together confectioners sugar and 4 tsp. of

the lavender scented water and drizzle over top of cooled breads.
