If I buy ground cardamom it's usually onlk during the holiday baking when I

don't have time to grind the pods. The ground will lose it's potency soon so

don't expect it to last for years on the spice rack.

It's one of the worlds most expensive spices and I can't be without it.

The pods you peel and grind with pestle and mortar. If you go to the cooking

store they are usally between $7 and $10 dollars. The best are rough stone ones

sold in Hispanic markets. In Mexican cooking there are so many dishes that call

for ground dried peppers that they sell them for a few dollars.

I also use it to crush up dried lavender for my lavender cookies and sweet

bread or to make lavender sugar.

Jenni if you can't find one back there let me know and I'll send you an old

one if I still have it.

Do not! Grind cardamom pods in the coffee grinder unless you want to make it

a permanent cardamom grinder.........LOL It's a very earthy smelling spice and

emits a strong fragrance you might not be able to wash out easily. I wanna wear

cardamom perfume.........LOL

Earth Balance sticks, yes I've tried them. I have to admit I'm a butter

addict, I have to have a taste on certain foods and I will not ever never ever

give it up. It's instant karma to me. I figure if I made it through my flower

powder days......my butter is right on.........(:- ))))

Donna,

Are you a psysic mind reader or what? Yesterday in the mail a dear

friend sent to me a package of Lavender buds because she knows that I

use and love Lavender oil. I said " Oh my gosh how wonderful now what

do I do with these? " I need one of those stone mortars and pestles

from the Mexican food store..Going there today for sure. I must admit

I have never used Cardamon but I will. Why not make your own tincture

of Cardamon? My Homeopathy book recomends using Cardamonto soothe and

open chest congestion. Helping breathing. Also use to sooth stomach

cramps and indigestion. This is lovely. " cardamon uplifts the mind

and gives a positive feeling when energy is low " ..According to this

guide Cardamon oil can be used as a massage oil or in a bath.

Inhaling the warm vapors also good for lungs and well being. I am

buying some Cardamon oil today.
