Guest guest
I got some " chicken " seitan recently, and I'm dying to try it. Any suggestions and/or recipes for using it? Thanks!
Guest guest
Kyrene, here are a couple of things I do with chicken-style seitan (sort of unrecipes): Use it in a stir-fry Use it in sandwiches. As a nostalgic thing, to replace the chicken and butter sandwiches on white bread they used to serve on trains, I make a slightly healthier version. I use whole grain bread, a non-hydrogenated vegan margarine, and dark lettuce. Make an unchicken pot pie: a double pie crust, the unchicken, carrots, peas, potatoes, onions, maybe some other veggies*, and I make a white gravy with soy milk, plus some spices. *I pre-cook any raw veggies. Marinate it and make shish kafta (shish kabob with chicken). I have some in the house now and was going to try using it for unchicken Chicken Satay. (Just use a recipe from the internet but replace the chicken with the seitan.) from Maida Citizens for Pets in Condos, http://www.petsincondos.org South Florida Vegetarian Events, http://www.soflavegevents.net
