Guest guest
Lagers are the lightest beer (without it being 'lite'). All the national brands, Bud, Coors, Miller etc are lagers. A lager is the exact opposite of a rich and heavy beer. However, lager could be used as a generic term for beer. Personally, I only care for lagers if it's really hot out and I want something 'thin' to drink. Otherwise I go for the ales, which usually have a lovely hoppy flavour. Red ales are some of my favorite, which has a nice hoppy and malt balance. There is a Rock Bottom Brewery in Des Moines, so although it's not the best microbrew beer we do have a close place (1 1/2 hr from us). One of my favorite seasonal beers is the Full Sale Wassail, and I like most of their other beers, too. James favorite is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Some lager beers are not so light. I would not consider some German lagers, such as a bock or doppelbock, light. American lagers like bud, coors & miller, yes, those are pretty light. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/style/ > Personally, I only care for lagers if it's > really hot out and I want something 'thin' > to drink. Although I usually drink ales, a good beer to drink in the summer is a weiss beer or a hefeweizen. http://beeradvocate.com/news/stories_read/270/ Gary
