Guest guest
Hey Everyone!!! I got a GREAT lunch idea the other day from some of the things I picked up at the grocery store the other day. Tried and true and packable too! Here it is! :-) First, make a salad, since it's the quickest thing to do. Mine was made of just regular pre-bagged iceberg salad mix, with the iceberg lettuce, red lettuce, and shredded carrots in it, with a little grated mozeralla on it and topped with Chow Mein noodles (I used La Choy) and some Sweet Catalina dressing. Voila! There's your salad. :-) Next, make a veggie burger. I use either Boca or Gardenburger, just depends. This time around, I used Boca. Of course ya'll know how to make those, so I don't have to explain that! LOL. Mine are usually topped with just cheese and either ketchup or barbecue sauce (Jack Daniels is my preferred BBQ, Jim Beam Gourmet Ketchup is my preferred ketchup) on wheat or white bread (I prefer wheat), sometimes with lettuce and tomatoe, but usually not. The next thing, and last, is probably the best part. Green Giant makes these great sides, they come frozen in a little box, and it's inside a plastic pouch. They could probably make a meal in themselves if you wanted it to be a meal. If you know what I'm talking about, good :-D, if not, they come in a box that's about six inches long and four inches or so tall. They have green bean casserole, baby vegetable medley, broccoli in cheese sauce, and many others to choose from, and they're not expensive at all, at about anywhere from $1.60 to $1.75 a box, depending on where you shop. I made the broccoli in cheese sauce, and the directions are right on the box, you can either microwave them or boil the pouches. I made mine in the microwave. It's kinda a big lunch when you think about it...a burger, a vegetable side, and a salad...but nonetheless, an overall healthy one, and a filling one. And thing about it...it's better then running to a fast food joint and grabbing something, huh? :-D Speaking of fast food - have any of you tried Burger King's veggie burgers? They're awesome! Burger King is really the only fast food place I'll go anymore, since they have veggie burgers whereas a lotta other big-time fast food chains don't offer many vegetarian choices. Anyway, I've rambled enough, I just wanted to let ya in on my super-duper-yummy-in-my-tummy lunch! Peace up! ***Sara***
