Guest guest
Hi Hilary, Spend time in the recipe file section. There are many sauces, smoothie recipes, etc that are non-dairy. I have an allery to cow's milk and never knew this until my nasal allergies got out of hand and the ent. doc ran a patch test. That was the only thing I had a negative reaction to. When I stopped dairy (I cheat a bit) all my sinus troubles cleared up as well as 75% of my colitis. Meat is the worst thing for you, I have slight problems with citrus and acidic dishes. I add a touch of turbinado sugar to my spaghetti sauces and it cuts down on the acid. Really spicy foods aren't good for your colitis either. Now for your answer to the soup, sure spinach will work as well as chard and kale. I don't see a problem with that. If you want to write me offlist regarding your colitis please feel free to do so. I had that hit me like a ton of bricks when I was 15 and the gastro doctors used to tell me to drink milk to calm my stomach and I got worse and worse and I had so much belladonna (a poison) gievn to me that I had double vision and yet I wasn't getting any better. I've almost cured myself, do remember there is no cure for colitis, it's keeping it under control and you can do it. Keep positive and enjoy time spent with us here, Donna reesepbbear <reesepbbear wrote: - Do you suppose this soup could be made using spinach in place of the kale ??? I am not very fond of kale, but do enjoy spincah and right now need to take in more leafy green vegetables to take care of some imbalances which showed up on the last bloodwork I had from my doctor. I wanted to express, too, that I really have enjoyed this group. I am not vegetarian yet, but I eat very little meat and have thought about eliminating it all together from my diet. I am also lactose intolerant and so i am interested in any recipes for foods which traditionally use dairy products altered to use non dairy ingredients. I am hoping to for the new year of 2006 find a way of eating which works for me. I have IBS and colitis and unfortunately many " healthy " foods play havoc with my system...broccoli (which I love ), cauliflower, fresh citrus, many kinds of pasta, beans, and I have to be careful with my intake of cooked tomatoes. Thank you, Hilary Photos Ring in the New Year with Photo Calendars. Add photos, events, holidays, whatever.
