Guest guest
Many years ago we had cows, pigs, chickens etc and a garden. We did not use antibiotics or hormones or hormone implants and used manure on our garden. Manure is natural. I think that when it is aged that any substances used to feed the animals will go away with the aging. We live in the country and because there are only the 2 of us, I only have a few things in my garden. Also the gophers have gotten to be real bad about eating my plants just when they are ripe. Once salvaged a broccoli plant just as the gopher was taking it down his hole. I use all natural things on my plants but just below us on the other three corners are vegatable fields and at times they come with the helicopters and spray. I know that some of this spray is bound to drift over to my place. Just down the street there is a place that grows vegetables to sell at the farmers market. They put up a sign that says no pesticides used. Not by them, but they are probably getting the same residue as I. I give them credit, at least they are trying. We just all do what we can and them wash them and know that what we are eating is better than the ones that are deliberately using pesticides etc. Had to laugh a bit. One person selling corn - no pesticides - had the corn worms in every cob of corn. Now I see that they are cutting off the top part of the cob of corn with the worm. City people were probably complaining!!! Organic corn guaranteed to have a worm or two. One year my oldest son put most of our garden in corn. I hand picked off all the worms - what a job.
