Guest guest
Does vinegar really work as a fabric softener? Can you put it on a cloth and then throw it in the dryer with the clothes? Do they come out smelling like vinegar? Does it really make the clothes softer? I am always ready to learn new things. Right now I use Bounce dryer sheets. We tend to throw laundry in as we go to bed or leave the house, so I wouldn't be available to put anything in the washing machine. Also, after several people in a nearby town died from drinking the city water (that was not up to par) we invested in a water softener/filter and the drinking water (which goes to a special faucet at the sink, and the instant hot water, and the water in our fridge) to also have the reverse osmosis filtering on it. After we did that, none of the clothes have that fresh smell that dryer sheets normally give. (and they aren't very soft) I guess there isn't enough stuff in the water for it to cling to. sigh I am wondering if that would mean that the vinegar smell wouldn't stay on the clothes either? I am really hoping someone can answer these questions. Colleen PS. I am glad we are allowed to talk about these type of things on this list! It is a valuable source of information on the way we all can live better and help the world. - Lynn Wednesday, January 04, 2006 6:47 PM Re: Re:vinegar I know someone who used vinegar as a fabric softener, so I tried it. No way going back to expensive fad softeners! Works great! Keeps the darker clothing dark too. Lynn in CA.
