~ Maybe but thankfully not everywhere. Here in southern

Oregon i have picked up chestnuts from the ground under

huge chestnut trees in the park in Ashland. i know that

back in my NY days we would smell roasting chestnuts

on the streets of NYC during the holiday season, too; not

sure where they get the chestnuts to sell, but i think in

certain climates those trees still thrive in the US.

May they continue to do so. :)
