Guest guest
Colleen, here is a site to check out. It sounds like you're doing everything right. Perhaps it's not drying completely? I definitely noticed rust on mine once when I didn't dry it completely. I bought our wok from this place and have been pleased with it. http://www.i-clipse.com/Admin/wokcare.asp Hope this helps. I washed it under hot water as directed and oiled it after each use; but it still got rusty. How do you take care of a WOK? I obviously missed something along the way. > Colleen
Guest guest
This sounds just like my wok. Is it possible that the " rust " color you are seeing is just the " seasoning " that naturally occurs? Are you sure it is actually rust? Most likely your wok is made from steel (although the cover may be aluminum). After using the wok, it shouldn't ever be shiny new. Like a well seasoned cast iron pan, your wok should eventually have a seasoned coating on it, that could be light to dark brown colored. But, it just doesn't feel safe to use, because when I wipe a paper towel around the inside, the paper towel comes away rust colored. I don't think eating rust sounds healthy; but hey, maybe it is! Wonder what type of metal yours is made of. Is it electric? > I can give you more info on my wok when I'm home. I do use mine quite a bit. Not as much as I used to but it's been a very good investment and easy cleanup too. > Donna > >
