Caramelized Onions with Rutabagas or Turnips or Potatoes 2 lbs. rutabagas or turnips or potatoes salt and pepper 4 or more tablespoons of butter /margarine Caramelized onions ----------------------- 1 lb. onions 3 Tbl. olive oil Heat olive oil in a heavy skillet, add onions and cook over very low heat for 40 to 45 minutes or until onions are golden and caramelized. Meanwhile boil the vegetable of choice in salted water, cook until soft, drain and mash well. Add butter/margarine, and salt, and pepper to taste. Stir in the caramelized onions and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot. Photos Ring in the New Year with Photo Calendars. Add photos, events, holidays, whatever.
