Guest guest
I enjoy hearing about holiday traditions of all sort. We celebrate Christmas because we were both raised Catholic, but I feel like an " Earth " religion girl. Is tonight the " darkest night of the year " or was it last night, in terms of the Winter Solstice? melissa

Guest guest
The Winter Solstice is today, sometime in the middle of the day actually, varying dependent upon where you are. (middle of the day for me) Just checked US Naval Observatory site for where I live and it actually looks like it is a toss up, with respect to this week, which is sort of what I figured because of when the solstice actually occurs. Dec 19: Sunrise 7:18 a.m. Sunset 4:52 p.m. Dec 20: Sunrise 7:19 a.m. Sunset 4:52 p.m. Dec 21: Sunrise 7:19 a.m. Sunset 4:53 p.m. Dec 22: Sunrise 7:20 a.m. Sunset 4:53 p.m. Dec 23: Sunrise 7:20 a.m. Sunset 4:54 p.m. http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneDay.html Although the minutes look the same above, I would say you could probably count either last night or tonight.
