" Hey, I've been there! :-) Not on the solstice (they have a lottery for the 3 or 4 days around that), but they did a simulation (obviously much poorer than the real sun would be) using lights.. it was amazing, and I can't imagine how wonderful it would be with the real sun. It was thought that all the ashes of the dead were stored there until the solstice, and when the sun would come through, the souls traveled to " heaven " on it, and then they could be moved to a permanent chamber elsewhere.
