cookbooks & recipes

Hi All

I am just so full of questions. LOL (remember me? the non-cook trying to

cook?)

My household has tons of cookbooks. I look through them and make a recipe. The

family may pronounce it great or horrible and I write on the recipe page in

pencil that we loved it, liked it, or hated it. That way I will remember which

ones not to make again! LOL

My question is this -- How does one keep track of which cookbook the recipes

are in? I find that I will want to go back and make something again, only to

NOT be able to find the recipe again.

Do I copy every recipe we love into a separate notebook? The other day I spent

2 hours looking through cookbooks for a specific recipe and never did find it.

(It took a lot of time since I couldn't remember the recipe's name and they all

have such " interesting " names.)

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Colleen

Colleen, here is a suggestion for keeping track of recipes. Create a

text file where you list recipes and their source and page number.

If you want to get fancier, you could do the same thing in a spread

sheet or data base program. Using a database program you could run

" queries " by type of recipe and also sort by name or date entered.
