Guest guest Posted December 10, 2005 Report Share Posted December 10, 2005 CHOCOLATE CHIP WREATHS (Yield: 4 dozen) 3/4 cup butter-flavored shortening 1 1/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar 2 tablespoons milk 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 1 egg 2 cups self-rising flour 1 cup semisweet chocolate morsels 1 cup chopped pecans Icing (below) Red and green chewy candies, cut into small pieces Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray cookie sheets with non-stick vegetable spray. In a large mixing bowl, combine shortening, brown sugar, milk, and vanilla; beat until light and fluffy. Add egg; beat until well blended. Add flour, stirring until just blended. Stir in chocolate morsels and pecans. Divide dough into 4 equal pieces. Divide each piece of dough into 12 equal pieces; form each piece into a small ball. Arrange the balls on cookie sheets to form an 8-inch circle. Flatten the balls slightly. Repeat with remaining dough. Bake, 1 cookie sheet at a time, 12 to 14 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely on cookie sheets before removing. Decorate with icing and chewy candy pieces. ICING 1 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar 3 tablespoons shortening 2 teaspoons milk 1 teaspoon corn syrup In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients; beat until smooth.
