Favorite Christmas Movies/baking/Denise/cold temps

also like original Home Alone and I look forward to It's a Wonderful

Life when I need a nap : ). I have truly never watched it all the

way through yet for which my hubby considers it to be a great

travesty : ).

 

oh well, it's time to start baking again : ). extended family and

friends are getting baskets of fresh bread this year with homemade

jellies/jams. just got done with Cookie Walk at school and had no

leftovers. the favorite recipe was Butterscotch Shortbread Bars

(vegan or lacto). I also took Snowballs, Giant Molasses cookies,

Giant Oatmeal Raisin cookies, Caramel Corn with peanuts, and Almond

Bark Pretzel Sticks. is almond bark vegetarian? I don't care for the

stuff but had some left over in cupboard that needed to be used

up : ). if anyone is interested in recipes I can post them : ).

 

it is truly freezing here--furnace set at 72 and it's barely

holding : ). Denise, did you get much snow? we have about 4-5 " plus

4 more coming today. hubby called and was wearing shorts/T-shirt so

I *just* had to share how cold it was here : ) at -temps. he said he

would give up buying a laptop at Christmas to get me a snowblower

but I would prefer him to have the computer so we can stay in

contact when he leaves here shortly for Iraq : ). I can always

shovel the smaller drive out to get kids to school and then work at

the much bigger one at leisure : )--our garage is weird--it is 2-car

but has one door on front and one door on back. oh well...

 

does anyone have their shopping done yet?? I just started and

hopefully kids will like all they got. we are going to attempt to go

to Coralville today to the big mall so they can give me some more

ideas and then we are going to check out New Pioneer Coop next door

for some good holiday cooking ideas : 0. hope everyone has a good

weekend and take care : )............
