Guest guest
Went to Ames yesterday afternoon for a meeting and was in a grocery co-op. They had the Quorn Roast on sale for $3.79. Luckily they only had two, cause I would have gone overboard (they normally are $6.99). Also, the Gimmer Lean was on sale for $2! Yay! I can make my soysage rolls! And we found Agar flakes, so now I can make trifle, too! Lucky everything else was on sale 'cause the agar was over $6 a packet...ouch! Since I don't have access to green tomatoes right now I did a search on vegetarian mincemeat and found a recipe from Rose Eliot who has a cookbook called Vegetarian Christmas; it's predominantly traditional English Christmas cuisine turned veggie, but has other cultures' foods listed. I think I'm going to have to order that for myself. Things I'll be making for the holidays (and our annual Boxing Day party): soysage rolls trifle (Ray's recipe) mince tarts Victorian sponge cake and I'm going to beg my dad for a jar of his homemade pickled onions - they were excellent last year. Will get recipes posted soon! Now that it's December I am really getting into the holiday spirit. The other night we watched the Polar Express (for the first time) and soon we'll be watching Irvin Berlin's White Christmas (I've watched this movie every year for a long time). And this year I want to watch A Christmas Story, as I haven't seen that one in years! Denise
