THank you Linda. I will take a look for one of the boxed products.

I really want to try making seitan. I've seen recipes calling for

seitan but no instructions on where to buy it or how to make it.

I've tried tempeh and I do enjoy it. Have you eaten tempeh?

called vital wheat gluten. The directions are on the box to make the

gluten used for what you want it. It is also used to boost the flour

you use in bread making. You can get seitan in the grocery store too,

usually by the tofu in the refrigerated section. It is already made

and usually in a chicken flavor. You can get beef too but I can't

here. Wheat gluten is in a lot of the meat substitutes along with

soy. You can google for recipes for either on the net. I don't know

what kabobs taste like so don't have a clue about that. It has a good

texture I think and the flavor just depends on what you simmer it in,

whether or not you bread it and the sauces you use with it. You can

make gluten from scratch of course, but the boxed stuff would

probably be easier to try first to see if you like it.

Yes, I have eaten tempeh. I used to like it basted in different marinades and

then for some reason didn't like it any more. One of our local markets makes it

and I think that a couple of the last times I bought theirs it was over

date...it is in their open deli case...it had an off taste and a little slimy I

think. I think that stuck with me. I'll try it again later. I love tofu and

there are so many other things to eat that I enjoy more I suppose.
