Guest guest
Are any of you familiar with seitan or satay? Have any recipes? Anyone ever made seitan? Is it good as kabobs? Thanking you in advance and happy Holidays, Fiona
Guest guest
Yes, I have made seitan. You can also get it in a box, usually called vital wheat gluten. The directions are on the box to make the gluten used for what you want it. It is also used to boost the flour you use in bread making. You can get seitan in the grocery store too, usually by the tofu in the refrigerated section. It is already made and usually in a chicken flavor. You can get beef too but I can't here. Wheat gluten is in a lot of the meat substitutes along with soy. You can google for recipes for either on the net. I don't know what kabobs taste like so don't have a clue about that. It has a good texture I think and the flavor just depends on what you simmer it in, whether or not you bread it and the sauces you use with it. You can make gluten from scratch of course, but the boxed stuff would probably be easier to try first to see if you like it. linda " Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it. I see folks have answered about the seitan, but don't know if anyone mentioned the satay yet.... just in case, satay is a Thai dish of meat kebabs, usually with peanut sauce.
