Guest guest
LOL, I know that flax seed is great for an egg replacer in recipes, and I use it in muffins and cookies etc. whenever I can. HOWEVER.... DO NOT, let me repeat, DO NOT use it in matzo ball mix. Imagine my surprise yesterday when I made my matzo balls, put them in my lovely simmering broth, covered, and walked away for 10 minutes. The house smelled wonderful. I came back with my slotted spoon, opened the lid, submerged my spoon into the simmering broth in expectation of turning my beautiful matzo balls....... but alas...... There were none, ............. and in their place my slatted spoon brought to the simmering surface a meal-broth mix, it looked like cream of wheat. ( Sadly I strained my broth, taking out all the cream of wheat. The broth was saved, and it actually added a nice thickness to the broth, but my balls were no more. flaxly pulverized. It reminded me of the time when I was in nursing school and the instructor told us to go home and soak our shoelaces in bleach. She did not elaborate and say bleach and water, the woman said " bleach " imagine my surprise, as just like the matzo balls, when in the morning I looked in the bowl and my laces were gone. :oP blessings, Chanda
