I was beginning to think perhaps the fact that I am a transitioning Vegetarian, my family is not wanting to be vegetarian, therefore I still make meat-meals for them... that I was not going to fit in here. I am not a person who is fanatical about by products and preservatives, I have only decided to try a new healthier way of eating, by cutting out fatty meats. My Choice, for myself. That simple. Its baby steps, I know this. Although I have been completely meatless for almost 7 weeks (next monday) it is still a huge transition. Especially when you have a large family (6 kids) like we do. I do have a couple meals a week that the whole family eats that are meat free or I use a replacement product like the smart ground. Thankyou Susan for the encouragement for those of us beginners, who ...for whatever reasons...have chosen to live our life in a healthier light. Catherine, Congratulations on all the new products you have picked up at your local market. I hope you find some that you enjoy and are able to incorperate into your life. We all really like the smart ground in my home. We have tried it in many different ways already, and havent been displeased once. If in the least, my whole family cuts out fatty ground beef from their diets, then that alone is a good start for a healthier and longer life. Have a great weekend everyone! Guest guest
Thanks to everyone for you recommendations and ideas! I went to " Wild Oats " today, our only local Natural Food Store...took the bus, as Jim travels a lot ( he's a tour bus driver) I got lots of veggies, and Smart Dogs and Smart Ground. Lots of fruit, beans etc. I also got some Soy Milk, mostly for my coffee since I don't drink milk! Never liked it! Jim, my husband, is really OK with this, but, we are not going to be Total Veggies....I am going to use some chicken and fish...since we have a freezer full!!! I will make some soups and stir frys, and use a bit of chix until it is gone. I really do not want to waste food! I was never into eating living creatures, but, somehow a Big Mac didn't seem like a cow to me! I am going to really try this! Today I have eaten 2 rice cakes, 1 banana, grapes, bean soup and a boiled egg...got to use up my eggs! Do any of you use eggs? Dinner ???? hummmm~~~ Jim won't be home, so, maybe a big salad! Thanks again! Cathe
