Guest guest
<<<I will refrain from posting anything that is not Vegan.>>> Hi Paula, I can see your point of view and understand why you, as many people around the world, would think that some vegetarians eat fish because of knowing those who claim to be "vegetarians" doing exactly that. The reason some of the rest of us get defensive about it is that those who do such things help perpetuate the belief that fish is a vegetarian food...whereas most vegetarians would not consider it so. It also makes an already difficult situation such as ordering in a restaurant even more difficult if people believe something to be vegetarian that is not. I don't think anyone (I, for sure) was making a judgement about a particular person eating fish, just that we don't want fish recipes or the idea of eating fish (though it may be part of ones transition to a meatless diet) to be associated with vegetarianism <on this list>. Much as most Christians wouldn't want the actions of "some" Christians to necisarily represent the group as a whole. That said, I do hope you will continue to post recipes...and ovo-lacto are allowed, not just vegan. I guess the best definition would be anything that never had a face, although I personally don't eat clams or other seafood with those "unfamiliar" faces I can't find <G> either. Maybe someone has a better definition...hmmmm? On a personal note, I do wish you the best on finding the proper diet and treatments...and I, for one, make no judgements whatsoever about what anyone eats. You do have some serious limitations (and I have a bit of a soapbox issue with the "corn" in everything and the substances that permeate the Standard American Diet) and I wish you a complete and quick recovery. {{{{hugs}}}} ~Nita ~~~It is most selfish to love someone in only the ways you want to love them.~~~
Guest guest
Hey Nita, Don't get me started on food additives, food colorings and that blasted corn syrup in everything! My soap box is well worn. LOL People can't believe it when I am in the grocery store and they see very little canned and packaged foods in my grocery cart. They don't understand how I eat. People who know me are wise enough not to make comments. LOL Aspartame is a dirty word in my vocabulary.
