Guest guest
Apple Bars INGREDIENTS 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 1/2 teaspoons salt 3/4 cup shortening 3 eggs, lightly beaten 1/3 cup milk 8 cups baking apples, sliced and peeled 1 1/2 cups sugar 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 1 cup crushed Corn Flakes 1 egg white, beaten DIRECTIONS In a bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add eggs and milk, mix to form dough and chill for 20 minutes. Divide dough in half, roll one half to fit the bottom and side of a greased 15 " x10 " x1 " pan. Arrange apples over crust. Combine sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and Corn Flakes, and sprinkle over apples. Roll remaining dough to fit top of pan and place over apples. Seal edges and cut slits in top. Brush with egg white. Bake at 374 degrees F for 45-50 minutes, or until golden and apples are done. Cut and enjoy! Hi Everyone, I think this recipe will be a fun recipe to do with the kids, though you will be doing the cutting of the apples. Susan R.
