Guest guest
What I wrote about the Americans is NOT COMPLETELY UNTRUE!!! Weapons are illegal in Ireland and the American Miltary are refueling their planes which contain weapons of mass destruction in Ireland. We are not running to the "Super Country", we don't want your Military refueling in our land. That is a fact!!!! Second, there is no "southern ireland" as such. I live in "eastern ireland", which is in the "Republic of Ireland". Southern Ireland means Cork and Kerry, but as we know there is also a West and East to Ireland as well (and north, not forgetting Donegal). What you said about Ireland is completely untrue!!! There is peace between Republic and Northern Ireland (we never fought with each other). You need to get your facts, history and geography right, just like George Bush needs to. There is however some trouble in Belfast, between the Catholics and Protestants (Irish and British (so not the Republic)). But no more than what goes on in Glasgow, Scotland.(or what gangs in LA would do, which is prob worse with all these drive by shootings). It's just Ireland is so... small and there is not much news, whereas if you were in America, you wouldn't even hear about people going missing or murdered. Yes, in Belfast, you might have teenagers running around burning cars, but that could never be compared to the scale of wars that America does. Not forgetting, that our Governments don't choose to have a war with each other, the British and Irish Governments work by political means. To say that you look after your own and no other country is your responsibility is so... selfish. These countries in Africa, are that way, because of Gobal Companies such as Nestle sue-ing the country and Gobal Debts. Thank god, people in Ireland have good faith and try and help. Maybe its due to the fact that we once had a famine in Ireland in 1845, but $1,000,000 (a lot in those days) was given to us by the RED INDIANS. We in Ireland , believe we should help these people, as you never know when you might need help, also it is a good deed (was Band Aid a waste of time, by a great Irish man, Bob Geldof). At least homeless people in America and Ireland have shelters to go to, and there are a lot of good work already, but these people in other countries have completely nothing. We don't want to run to America for help!!!! All we want to do, is for American people to stop thinking they are so high and mighty and this Super Country!!! Because you are not. We are all human beings and living creatures, just like animals. Nobody in the world should be murdered. Nobody should spend millions on weapons and the development of weapons (which America does), they should invest their money in other resources. Disgusted Irish person Stephanie Taulbee <stephanietaulbee wrote: Hi there! I'm usually not a debater, but I thought what you wrote about Americans is completely untrue. I completely and entire respect your thoughts and I'm not attacking your views. But like one person said, not all of us agree with what our politicians come up with. My arguement is though, and I say this with respect to your country, hasn't Northern Ireland been acting the same way towards Southern Ireland for years now. What I mean is you were talking about war and weapons and Northern Ireland has been in the news for as long as I can remember with these issues. My husband and I went to Ireland in June of 1998 for our honeymoon. It is absolutely beautiful there, but I was scared to death of getting caught in the middle of some kind of action. And as for spending money on things like this, if you would look a little deeper into what America spends it's money on you would find out that we have millions of homeless shelters, food pantries and help for those less fortunate. America can't save everyone and I'm tired of people thinking that just because we are "Americans" that we do have some kind of supernatural powers that we can fix everything. If other countries would do all we have for each other then yes there would be peace and harmony always. But we all know that is not practical. So yes I can understand your thinking that we spend too much money on war and weapons and I agree with you, but with everyone thinking we are a "Super Country" we almost have to. We are the ones people run to when they need help. I'm sorry if I offended you in any way, but that's my opinion. Stephanie Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable.
