It was the only way. will not transfer ownerships. eGroups used to be willing to do that, but refuses to get involved. I have written an email to the owner of this group, hopefully I will get a response. What I'd like is for him/her to either transfer ownership to someone else, or to at least add a co-owner. I don't have any strong desire to do it, since I'm not an active member (this is my first post) but I'd be willing to be a co-owner or moderator for the list to help someone else learn the ins and outs of how works and how to make sure spam posts never get through to a list. A group this size should probably have at least three moderators anyway. If I don't get a response, someone might want to think about starting a new group. As for the problem Irene mentioned of transferring the files, we don't necessarily have to do it at all. We could start a new group but keep membership in the old one. That way we could still access the old files, but have the list we're on be spam free. People could switch their membership on this list to " No Mail, " and then it wouldn't matter how much spam the list receives since none of us would be receiving it. In the long run it still might be worth transferring the files to the new list though, since otherwise we run the risk of the group getting deleted (either by the owner or by for inactivity) and then we'd lose everything. I'd be willing to help copy the files over if a new list is started. While I'm posting I may as well introduce myself. I'm Haras. I've been lurking on this list for a few months. I've run a quote list on (Splunge) for the last three years. I've been a vegetarian for half my life (I'm 26 now.) I live in New York City, which fortunately has a ton of vegetarian restaurants although none of them are in my neighborhood. I'm not vegan, although I've been trying to cut down on my dairy intake. One of my roommates is also a vegetarian, but my boyfriend is a meat eater who used to order double side orders of bacon on a regular basis. I've tried to get him to eat a bit healthier, but he's almost as stubborn as I am. Anyway, I'll let y'all know if I hear from the owner.
