These are quite a bit more time consuming than opening a box of crackers,

but if you want to bake something special for holiday guests, this is a good

recipe. It makes a lot, but they sure don't last long.

Cheesy Sun Crisps

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup butter softened

3 Tbs water

1 cup flour

1/4 tsp salt

1 cup quick cooking oats

2/3 cup roasted salted sunflower seeds

In a mixing bowl, combine the cheddar and parmesan cheese, butter and

water until mixed well. Combine the flour and salt and add to the cheese

mixture. Stir in the oats and the sunflower kernals. Kneead until the dough

holds together. Shape into a 12 inch long roll. Cover with plastic wrap and

chill for 4 hours or overnight. Allow to stand at room temperature for 10

minutes before cutting into 1/8 inch slices. Place on a greased foil lined

baking sheets. Bake at 400 for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are gloden

brown. Slide crackers off baking sheets to wire racks to cool. Yield: 8 dozen

approx.
