Guest guest
I'm new to the group. My name is Marilyn and my family has been " meatless " for three years now but we still use dairy products. I saw your post over the weekend, Susan. I personally don't like the chunk TVP but use the granular type all the time. I buy it from The Mail Order Catalog. You pour boiling hot water on the granules and let it set for 15 minutes and then just use a fork to flake it until it looks like ground beef consistency. Then I just use it like I would ground beef recipes (sloppy joes, put it in spaghetti sauce, meatloaf, chili, stuffed green peppers, etc.) My kids are 13 and 14 and they eat it just like it was ground beef. The only thing I don't have much luck with is making hamburger patties. It's great for other stuff though. Hope this helps! Marilyn P.S. Your granules will double so 1 cup granules with boiling water will increase to 2 cups, etc.
Guest guest
Hi and welcome to the group. I too think I prefer the grandulars as my family just seems to take it better. (My husband says the larger chunks just let him know he really is not eating meat!!) I have a 11 and 13 year old and fixed the sloppy joe recipe I posted a few days ago adn they loved it! I was really excited about it. With kindness, Beth ownpet2001 <jewel wrote: I'm new to the group.
