Guest guest
Ri, there are some people who think that if your children don't eat meat they will become lethargic and thinly looking. Well they should really take a good look at me cause I've been a vegetarian all my life and I'm hardly thinly looking. A little lethargic but that has nothing to do with me not eating meat. I have CFS and no matter what I do I get so worn out and very sick sometimes afterwards. There are enough very tasty vegetarian dishes that when prepared beautifully and tasty, that one doesn't have to resort to meat at all. That's my 2 bits in this. There are carob chips that can take the place of chocolate chips. Just a suggestion, Elizabeth and Shawn. It may be totally the same as chocolate chips but it is a little bit healthier. Best of luck to you GV. I hope all goes well at the preschool halloween party and veganizing it. That's so cool. Hi,Andy. Welcome to the group here. You'll get a lot of great recipes here that's for sure. I'm the same way P_T. When I first married my husband he had asked me if I had any qualms about meat. I told him that if he wants meat he is going to have to cook it himself for I will not touch it. He had cooked meat for himself once in awhile. Around Christmas we would have a turkey. Well after last year he had open heart surgery and had a pig valve put in and what the doctors did not expect was that he also had a plugged artery as well. He almost died on the O.R. table. So he had an emergency by-pass done as well. That changed his whole outlook on meat to the point that he really is getting away from it more and more now. He has also cut down on margarine cause he doesn't want the cholesterol. His whole diet has changed drastically cause he even said that if he's not careful it will come back. I guess that part scared him. He is leaning more and more now to vegetarianism but I'm trying so hard to get him to enjoy Vegan recipes and that is going to be slow I guess. My personal feelings are this, Rita, that by serving meat to your child is being cruel. Cause the being Vegetarian, you are building a stronger body. Not sure if you know this and maybe you do and maybe the other do also. But did you know that by eating meat it does something to your bones. I think it is eating away the calcium that your body needs so much. Now if that is being cruel to your child then so be it. I would rather her eat healthy vegetarian foods then to have something in her that will eat away the calcium on the bones. Also, meat stays inside your body longer and makes it very hard for it to go thru your intestines. Now tell me do you want to have meat that stays in you bowels for a long time before it goes thru. SO I guess that is being mean to your child. If it is so be it. Sorry Rita but it makes me so mad that people think that by not feeding a child meat you are being a big meany. All I can say is this. Be mean to your child and give her the best healthy diet that you can give her. You'll never regret it.
