e.coli can grow only if it's present, it is a contamination from feces,

and truth is there are all manner of bacteria one must be careful of

when handling and storing food.

Proteins are better breeding grounds, but alas, almost all foods are

protein-based.

True of all food, really, although some are more prone to quick spoilage

than others.
