Guest guest
Ah - ok, thanks. I wasn't sure if that is what she meant - or like the vegetarian replacement for mincemeat pie (which is something else all together). I've recently used Quorn in a family favorite recipe. I made the regular one as well, and then everyone tried both. Everyone preferred the vegetarian version (: Candace Pat Meadows [pat] Tuesday, July 16, 2002 7:13 AM explanation of an ingredient I've not heard of On 16 Jul 2002 11:44:10 -0000, you wrote: > >Message: 6 > Mon, 15 Jul 2002 21:50:53 -0500 > Candace Selph <candace >Subject: explanation of an ingredient I've not heard of > >I have a question - I just got one of Linda McCartney's cookbooks - and >there is a recipe that calls for " vegetarian mince " . The British call ground beef 'mince' or 'minced meat'. My husband is English, so I can usually 'translate'. I'd use something like 'Gimme Lean' or those (Morningstar Farms?) 'crumbles'. TVP would probably work also and be a lot cheaper. Pat ------------------------
