Guest guest
Here's a recipe I use for Hot Cross Buns. It's a recipe to make by hand but I just don't have time for that. I make these in my bread machine and take out to form into rolls after the dough has risen. (#1-4 I let the bread machine do, then I form dough into balls and let rise again.) Hot Cross Buns 1 cup warm milk 1/2 cup sugar 3 Tbsp. melted butter 1/2 tsp. salt 1 pkg dry yeast 1 egg, well beaten 3 cups flour 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 cup raisins (I use 1/4 raisins and 1/2 candied fruit) 1/2 tsp ground cloves Frosting: 1/2 cup confectioners sugar 3 Tbsp milk 1. Preheat to 400 F 2. Mix together milk, sugar, butter, salt, yeast, and egg. 3. Add flour, cinnamon, raisins, and cloves. Mix well. 4. Grease hands with margarine or oil and knead the dough. 5. Cover the bowl with a cloth and let the dough rise in a warm place for about a half hour. 6. Form dough into eight round balls the size of your fist and place on a greased cookie sheet. 7. Let the dough rise another half hour in warm place. 8. Brush the top if each bun lightly with water. 9. Bake 400F for 20 mins. 10. Mix frosting ingredients and paint an "X" on each bun.
