Guest guest
-Yes and no Just less of the hevier...at a meal my son would eat a bit of protien then a whole baked potato a hunk of bread and then a bunch of corn/peas and that was it..if i tried to feed him anything else hhe would sit for 2 hours at table not eating ..he is very stubborn..dr explained to him MANY times over past 3 years he has to watch what he eats more..he has told him the greener veggies have many more nutrients... now that we have done this he now eats... asparagus, brocoli,a romaine/spiunach salad, carrots apples, grapes mangos, pineapple nuts and dried fruits. he also eats BROWN rice, whole wheat pasta and tortillias . i buy the natural ovens bread which is NATURALLY lower in carbs because it is so hi in fiber (hunger filler he likes) My dr does NOT approve of the low carb fad diets ..i know because when i heard this i told him we would not do any such diet in my house and he aggreed with me.He then went on to explain that the starchy veggies my likes have very little nutritional value and while he was a toddler and he told me it was a faz..now that he is a growing boy that i need to be more stubborn and switch it, and et him on track..dont get me wrong it wasent easy! if you have any idea how much food ive tried then ate for therest of theweek because he would almost gag eating it...well you get my meaning. before talking to the dr i would never really give it a thought..i thought of patatoes and peas and corn as veggies..thinking it was ok and very happy he was eating veggies!now BOTH kids help me plan our menus and im VERY happy with that..We have no one grumbling at our dinner table an dim happy we are all eating more vitamins and nutriants and i watch ALOT more what we eat and do tons of netserachs and read labels liek a hawk. In our problem the less carb idea was for teh best...other reasons people do it maynot be..but i try not to judge ...everyone is welcome to there own thoughts..likes or even dislikes.. warm Regards Niccii -- In , Amethyst Moon <ongala1> wrote: > Just to throw my two cents worth into the debate...did the doctor mean to cut back on heavy carbs? Food can essentially be broken into three groups, protein, fats and carbs (sugars). Carbs are then divided into heavy and light. Potato, pasta, bread are heavy carbs and fruit and veg are light. Generally people fill up a lot on the heavy carbs but most of the nutrition comes from the light ones. Maybe the doctor meant to focus less on these heavy carbs and instead on protein (and lighter carbs)? That would make sense to me. > > Michelle > > > " I stood before the chasm, closed my eyes, held my breath and jumped*** > when I looked back I saw it was only a gully.
