Guest guest
(Was it one of the Daves looking for this?? I don't know what a meat version of the french dip sandwich is, however I did find this at one of my favorite websites (one and only search and recipe). Does this look like what you all are looking for??....hope so. Laters, S.) Veggie-Style French Dip Ingredients: hoagie roll or sliced loaf bread (French or Italian) sliced mushrooms sliced bell pepper sliced sweet onion chopped garlic spicy seasoning blend (I like Creole seasoning- can't remember brand, but is in green shaker) soy cheese (I like Swiss) au jus or onion soup mix (check ingredients for vegan variety) Directions: Mix up au jus or onion soup. (If soup mix, use HALF the amount of water called for on the box.) Leave to simmer over low heat. Pour a little olive oil in the bottom of a skillet. Add chopped garlic and heat until oil is hot. Add sliced mushrooms, peppers, onion, and a little of the spicy seasoning and continue to cook over medium heat until just soft. Collect veggies into a pile that will fit on your bread. Remove from heat and place soy cheese over veggies to melt it. (It's important that you remove the pan from the heat to allow veggies and cheese to cool a little; otherwise it will fall apart when you try to put it on the bread!) While waiting for cheese to melt and then solidify a bit, toast your bread to desired toastiness. Slide veggies out onto one slice of the bread and put the other slice on top. Dip in au jus or onion soup. YUM! Variations: 1)Use sliced veggie link sausage in place of or along with mushrooms. 2)Cheaters version: If there's no onion soup or au jus mix on hand, you can " fake it " by adding dried onions and a little soy sauce to the skillet along with the veggies. (I actually think I might like this version better- less messy!) _______________ Get McAfee virus scanning and cleaning of incoming attachments.
