Guest guest
Earths' Anguish and Heavens' Cry The walls outside the slaughterhouse were white. The sign at the entrance said, " Rastro Municipal " . My steps echoed in the timeless hallways of death Past the wilting flowers of time in the slaughterhouse chapel I wanted to witness everything the miracle of sight could capture Enshrouded in the night of day, behind the walls of ignorance and denial Out in the yard the victims waited silently, with only an occasional grunt. Thinking that perhaps in the silence they might be overlooked A few more breathes, a last few heartbeats There, beyond the flies and smells that assaulted my senses like A million demented demons Was the pipe that carried the river of crimson Like a broken artery from the heart of the earth Out towards a river that had long ago been damned A cattle truck entered the gate with dust devils all around The driver flashed me a carnivorous grin As I once again reentered the shadows The clouds gathered to hide the curious sun I was greeted by the chimes of chains with sharp hooks. The pitter-patter of blood dripping from severed heads and organs In the cathedral of the damned Women in black rubber boots stood at sinks Washing an endless supply of horrors I approached a chain link barrier The men opened a door an chased in the chosen pigs Ice picks crashed through bony skulls and eye cavities The squeals of the dieing echoed in my ear Like a run away truck crashing through a wall I hurried outside to the seek the refuge of silence I looked down at my shoes as I leaned back against the Wailing Wall. Gray skies Drops of rain were now falling on my shoe, washing the blood to mix with the mud The tears in my eyes mixed with the tears from above as I looked up it seemed the heavens, too, were sharing my anquish.
