Guest guest
I prefer to make my own seasoning packets for taco seasoning and the like. I have a great cookbook for making mixes of this sort. The store-bought versions are full of additives and overpriced to boot. I am going to make the recipe for No-Fuss Lasagna this weekend and it called for using two spaghetti sauce seasoning packets, so figured some of you might want a copy of the recipe for them as I will be using it instead of the storebrand version in that recipe. Hope everyone's Friday is going well thus far. Spaghetti Sauce Seasoning 1 Tbs dried minced onion 1 Tbs dried parsley flakes 1 Tbs cornstarch 2 tsp dried green pepper flakes 1 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 tsp instant minced garlic 1 tsp sugar 1 tsp Italian seasoning Combine all the ingredients in a small dish and stir t o evenly combine. Spoon into a 6 inch square of foil and fold to make an airtight packet. Label with date and store it in a cool dry place for up to 3 months. Yield: 1 packet mix (approx.1/3 cup) 'Make-A-Mix' by Eliason, Harward & Westover; pg. 75 To make a spaghetti sauce using this mix, combine the seasoning packet with: 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste 2 3/4 cups tomato juice or water Simmer all together for 30 minutes. ~ PT ~ Where is there dignity unless there is honesty? ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero (B.C. 106-43)
