Well I consider it cool.

 

However, if it were socially considered cool then it would be denigrated

as a passing phase, a fasion, a mere affectation that the trendy will

out-grow as they mature, and we don't want to encourage that attitude.

 

Rather than positing that vegetarianism be cool, how about trying to make

it the only sensible and mature attitude? That would be the opposite of

trendy, would scare off superficial types and desperate teenagers, yet

would also have the benefit of perhaps shaming those who have ignored or

mocked it.

 

This was George Bernard Shaw's basic position.

Yeah i agree, it would be best if it was considered the most sensible

and ethical eating style. Or at least not invoke such hostility in

so many people. I only wish vegetarianism were " cool " right now,

because then maybe if i got hungry at school I could find a meal in

the campus restaurants that was vegan other than the boring spaghetti

with marinara. bleah.
