One other thing that's worth mentioning - I had some friends from the

UK visiting this past week and the thing they enjoyed most was when I

took them kayaking on Elkhorn Slough (Moss Landing - abut half way

down the coast between Monterey and Santa Cruz). For $25 you can do

the " Sunset Paddle " with Kayak Adventures, which gives you 2 hours of

easy paddling, with seals swimming around you and poking their heads

out of the water to check you out, sea otters, and a huge variety of

wildlife. There was a tree full of snowy egrets settling down for the

night, thousands of crabs living in holes in the banks and trying not

get eaten by gulls, flocks of pelicans skimming inches above the

water right past your kayak. Wonderful.
