It is so hot!

Today we are supposed to get up to 109F, so I am staying

inside for the most part, unless I venture out to my pool.

 

I decided to try making the recipe for Eastern Corn Chowder

in the crockpot [recipes for this can be found in the soup

folder of our files section in the 'chowders' sub folder].

I did the saute first and then added the potatoes with

enough water to cover and will let it simmer in there on low

for a few hours, then mix in the corn and cream soup base

right before serving. Sure smells good. I plan to serve it in

some bread bowls that I buy at a local bakery and we will

have a green salad as well. I hope you are all doing good

and staying cool this summer.

 

In two weeks I am heading down to Carmel and to Monterey

Bay for a long weekend. I have never been that far south into

California before. I hear it is lovely and that the aquarium is a

must-see adventure so I am really looking forward to it.

Hopefully I will be able to do a bit of web-searching to find

some nice veggie restaurants to try out while down there.

Would anyone here happen to be familiar enough with that

area of CA and want to suggest anything? I'd love to hear it.

yeah its kind of hot down here to. anyway the idea of serving soup in

a bread bowl sounds interesting. my friend has used bread bowls for

spinach dip before. what kind did you use? I would probably go for

sourdough. I dunno. anyway I also wanted to point out that I went to

the monterrey aquarium when I was a kid almost 30 years ago and I

remember this very sad thing. I walked by the eel tank and it wasn't

that big and all these poor eels were like stacked on top of each

other and they didn't look very happy. I hope they treat their fish

nicer these days. so when you go there if you notice any of this
