As I've said more than once to you, the suggested range of " The Zone " is 0.5 to 0.9. Most people fit into the lower factors. What's high protein about that? Besides that, those who need higher amounts of protein for specific reasons should get it and ought to have reliable strategies for doing so. Why do you focus on only one aspect of the diet and then paint the whole diet with that misleading detail? For those who actually take the time to read about " The Soy Zone, " they will find it is about MUCH more than the amount of protein a person eats. For example, diabetics can benefit greatly from the research that Dr. Sears has conducted, if they can get past the misinformation you've spread about this widely published scientists and researcher. Here's what the man's really about. http://www.barberusa.com/medical/sears_barry_bio.html If you can read that and not be impressed, then health and nutrition are not really your biggest concerns. If you hate high protein consumption, then expressing those dislikes involves quite a different discussion than simply trashing " the zone " for no substantial reason. >>In addition, since a typical day on the original Zone diet involves eating 70% of protein calories from animal sources, Sears' diet contributes to the suffering and death of animals, which, since I'm a strict vegetarian for mostly ethical reasons, I could never condone.<< Who cares about the " original zone " diet? It's been updated many times since then, and Dr. Sears is the first to tell his readers that eating meat causes them health problems. Although he does promote eating some fish just like a few of members in this group do when they add it to their veggie diet. " ...eating 70% of protein calories from animal sources... " is an laugable claim!! I've been a strict vegetarian for 22+ years. During that time, I've heard many unreliable claims from both sides of the meat/no-meat issue. This one is a real winner... --- daveo <daveo@m...> wrote: > Boy, you must really hate " The Zone. " >
