Thanks for those de-bunking websites - a neighbour is touting it around

here and pushed video and tape and brochure at me and asked for my

opinion. Haven't 'enjoyed' either video or tape yet, for reasons below.

I shoulda looked on the net myself, I guess, but I'm not thinking very

clearly this week. Thanks so much for the help - I needed it at this

time. I can find reasons on those webpages (other than quackery, which

of course I knew it was) to decline interest. The possibility of

destroying sea life living in the cast-off coral is a goodie and so is

the health dangers of heavy metals. (I would normally just blow someone

off who did this on me over something so foolish, but she has been a

good friend to us, especially this last week when we have been in crisis.)

Short version of crisis - things come in threes - strictly OT.

Madé, one of our two beagles, started uncontrollable vomiting followed a

couple of days later vomiting and passing digested blood. Many emergency

vet visits and tests, x-rays, etc. later it has been decided she has

either pancreatitis or she has a bleeding tummy from ingesting some

toxin or a foreign body that she later passed in her stool. The two vets

at the clinic disagree, you see. She's no longer bleeding, is on meds,

and going off them a bit at a time, and she is quite active again.

Anyone on this list who has dogs know about this????

In the midst of the above saga, I learned of the death of my elderly

father and had to travel to my wheelchair-bound mother's side and deal

with the usual things and a few more. Meanwhile, my credit card number

had a great time in North and South Carolina unknown to me and fraud in

the nature of two and three thousand dollars was committed.

I know these things are not of equal weight, but I am sleep-deprived,

frazzled, somewhat crazy, etc., even a bit more than usual ;=) The

Coral Calcium thingie just seemed one thing too much to be asked to cope

with. So sorry - but hope this makes sense. So thanks again for your

help - much appreciated. What a wonderful group to come to my rescue

like that!

Best

pat

hi pat, i'm very sorry to hear about your dog :(

one of my dogs died years ago by drinking anti-freeze that had leaked

from our car engine onto the garage floor. anti-freeze supposedly

tastes like kool-aid unless you get the special more expensive kind

that tastes bad (this is outrageous, i think they should just make

the tasty anti-freeze illegal). anyway, i don't remember her exact

symptoms, just that she was just lying around and her eyes were

bulging out and towards the end she was really emaciated. at first

the vet had no clue what was wrong with her, but we figured it out

when we saw the spill in the gargae. but we caught it too late for

any kind of treatment my dog never got any better, on the way to

bringing her to the vet to be euthanized she died. so, i would say

the fact that your dog is active again is a good sign.
