Guest guest
Hi, Jalapenos are okay in salsas or in recipes but I don't like them individually that much. Okay pickled though. Thai and cayenne are great on sandwiches, IMHO. I dry both from the garden and still have small bags of dried ones from last summer. Habaneros if not dried in the oven (just open air or in a paper bag) seem to be more susceptible to mold/fungus, at least that has been my experience. Pickled tabascos are good as are habaneros. I like serranos too. Pequins are very tasty although I haven't found any of those at any of the local nurseries or such. I've grown them from seed a couple of times but I'm just not very accomplished at growing peppers from seed. There's a vendor at the San Francisco Farmers Market who has had lots of dried peppers and powders for a lot of different types of peppers. I think they're from the north bay someplace. There's also a group called the Bay Area Chile Heads. They have gatherings once a year. I keep thinking about going but haven't gotten to one yet. Of course, they're not all vegetarians, just chileheads. Nice pictures at batnet, thanks. Gary
Guest guest
I love Scotch Bonnet peppers. I used to put them in beans when I lived in Puerto Rico, and they have great flavor, but no one in Boise seems to have heard of them. I've asked four different produce managers with nothing but blank stares to show for it. *sigh* SBC DSL - Now only $29.95 per month! http://sbc.
