Yeah, like the majority of the world religions, or sects thereof.

" It need not be such a complicated question, "

wrote one correspondent, cutting to the chase for

many others. " Stand up honestly and courageously

for workers, consumers, voters, investors, people

who breathe air and drink water and eat food. Do

what's best for them. Big business can take care

of itself. "

from " Do We Have to Call You Al? " by Frank Rich

in today's NYTimes. The correspondent had written

Rich with advice for the Democrats after their

ignominious showing in the last election.

Well you might sigh! Sometimes I wonder at us all - okay, not *all* ;=)

- carrying on here as if we have invented vegetarianism and as if we

were truly in a tiny minority of one or two per cent of the population -

or lower. There's a whole world out there, I have to remind myself from

time to time, and people have been avoiding me*t in their diets for

centuries - others have been able to afford it so rarely they might as

well be called vegetarians.

As for religions out there that understand vegetarianism - no shortage

of them either - I don't know why anyone would be surprised. In many

cultures our me*t-eating friends would be the oddities.

As usual, it takes me two pars to say what one member can say with a

phrase and a sigh.

Best,

Pat
