Guest guest
Here are some easy gravies to make. Basic Brown gravy In skillet, brown: 2-3 tablespoons whole wheat flour with 1-2 tablespoons oil when brown, add 8-12 oz. water or (soy/rice) milk or small can of tomato sauce equal amt. of water and spices or flavoring options: salt/pepper or soy sauce or vegemite/vegex/other yeast extract or veggie boullion or cajun spices or mexican spices: cumin and/or chili powder or italian spices Gravy will thicken in a few minutes (it thickens faster if you preheat the liquid in the microwave as the flour browns) Fat Free gavy (easier to make, you don't have to worry how brown to make the flour) mix 2-3 tablespoons whole wheat flour with any of the above liquids and flavors before heating; medium heat until gravy thickens Enchilada sauce gravy 2-3 tablespoons masa flour (corn tortilla mix flour) 1-2 tablespoons oil (optional, works well using the fat free method above) 1 small can tomato sauce or diced tomatoes or Rotel tomatoes 1 can water cumin and/or chili powder to taste Add chopped pecans for Pecanchilada sauce serve on quesadillas or enchiladas Any of these work well adding TVP (presoaked if necessary) --- Be kind. Be of good cheer. Dick
