BRITISH FAST BECOMING VEGETARIANS

 

LONDON, ENGLAND, May 21, 2003: The following revelations coincided with the

celebration of the National Vegetarian Week: if Britons continue to turn

vegetarianism at the current rate, it is predicted in 50 years the

traditional roast and full English breakfast will be consigned to the

dustbins of history. Around 2,000 Britons a week are converting to

vegetarianism and if the trend continues, by 2047 the British population

will be predominantly vegetarian. The news will please the government

struggling to cut the number of patients waiting for hospital

admissions, for it is said that vegetarians enjoy better health. According

to the study, the average vegetarian visits the hospital 22 percent less

often than a meat-eater, saving the National Health Service around US$5,280

per person per year.

 

And think of all the animals that won't have to suffer and die just for a

selfish and thoughtless CHOICE... an uncaring indulgence that puts the

" pleasure " of eating above the life of a sentient being.

Yay! That's what we like to see...

 

Maybe one day there'll be an article like this about the U.S.? Probably less

likely due to our sickeningly high population, but you never know...

 

Unfortunately, with all the Atkins hysteria going on, it seems like meat is

becoming MORE popular instead of less. I wonder how many meat-eaters would

continue to do so if they had to hunt, kill, and prepare the poor things

themselves? I have a feeling most people would rather pick some tomatoes...
