Guest guest
A friend of mine recommended a product to me, which I bought, but I'm not sure what I can do with it! It's from Loma Linda Foods, a canned product called " Vege-burger - made from grain protein " . Does anyone know/use this product, and know of some recipes I could use it in? The " Western beefless -something something- " recipe that was posted looked like a candidate... Thanks... ~~blessed be~~ Alison, the ana-spryte Free online calendar with sync to Outlook. Guest guest
Loma Linda veggie burger in a can was one of the few meat substitutes available many years ago. To me it has an odd taste, but meat substitutes can be divided into two main types, those that try to resemble some kind of meat, and those that don't. Some vegetarians are put off by substitutes that too closely mimic meat. Many of the canned tvp/grain burger items are improved by rolling them in bread crumbs, flour or meal and pan frying them gently in medium heat with a little oil. This week I've been pan frying tvp pattie burgers with green tomatoes and other veggies from the garden. I sprinkle some cajun spice or a tiny amount of salt and black pepper on them as they cook. Barbecue or steak sauce can be good with veggie burgers. --- Be kind. Be of good cheer. Dick

Guest guest
Hey Alison. At least it's in a can so there's no rush, lol. If you get a chance try some of the 'frozen' products from MorningStar and other brands. I think they are pretty darn good. Let us know if you try the Loma Linda, I am curious how those are. I think I've tried a veggie can substitute years ago, but I don't remember what it was and if I liked it. Well then, have a good one.
