Guest guest
By not eating any meat in your meal you are helping to save our planet's forests. Did you know that since 1967, forests have been destroyed at the rate of 1 acre every 5 seconds to create grazing land for beef cattle to ensure a continuous supply of inexpensive meat for our fast food restaurants? By choosing to cook at home and making your family delicious, healthy vegan or vegetarian meals you are taking a postive step, not just for yourself, but for the planet. ~ pt ~ Possession of material riches, without inner peace, is like dying of thirst while bathing in a lake. ~ Paramahansa Yogananda
Guest guest
Years ago, I heard something about vegetarianism being good for humanity. Supposedly there would be more food to go around? Guest guest
Absolutely! When you tabulate the amount of water and grain it takes to feed one cow or to raise just one pound of " edible " flesh, then also take into consideration the space it takes on the planet to raise that grain as compared to how little space it would take to raise edible food for a person on the same plot of land, it is appalling to consider the wastefulness of the meat-eater diet. With world population growing steadily, it is important that we start thinking more on a global scale as far as monitoring our natural resources and preserving them for future generations. Vegetarianism just is way more eco-friendly, healthful and delicious; that doesn't even touch upon the ethical or moral aspects of the diet. Did you know it takes 16 pounds of grain and 2,500 gallons of water to produce one pound of meat? By eating even a few delicious meatless meals a week you can be a part of helping to conserve and use wisely our planet's precious resources. Zoinks! Sounds like I'm preachin' to the choir! *lol* ~ PT ~ Winning gives birth to hostility. Losing, one lies down in pain. The calmed lie down with ease, having set winning and losing aside. ~ Samyutta Nikaya III ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~~> , " Laurie B " <laitaina@h...> wrote: > Years ago, I heard something about vegetarianism being good for humanity. > Supposedly there would be more food to go around? > > Laurie
