I'm afraid that I fall off the wagon every now and then which is why I don't

claim to be a vegetarian, just a " wannabe " . 3 or 4 times a year I lose the

fight with chicken or turkey. Christmas especially. I have tried a few vegan

" roasts " and vegetarian roasts but nothing has really tickled my palate. Does

anyone have any good recipes for roasts that I could try.

This weekend I am babysitting horses for a friend of mine. They have a bunch

of turkeys. Turkeys are pretty cool birds. They are infinitely curious and

veery friendly. Follow you around like a dog. However, they have one tom

turkey that is as mean as a hungry snake. He will fly at you and draw blood.

My friend has had a couple of serious cuts from his beak and feet. A turkeys

beak and claws are like tempered steel and very sharp. Being hit by hm is like

being slashed with a knife and the cuts can be very deep and require

stitiches. I have warned them that if he nails me we will be having turkey

dinner

next weekend. He is also endangering the health and welfare of all the other

turkeys. I can't understand why they are keeping him. I would have a great

deal of trouble trying to summon up enough guilt to not have him for supper.

If so, please post them. I could use some good recipes for roast and other un

meats too. Thank you. :-)

I have a really good way of dealing with those moments when I'm at risk of

falling " off the wagon " . Go to the PETA website and watch that video taken from

a slaughterhouse. A bit drastic, yes, but it reminds me of why I'm doing this.

Gives me a month of two of strength, lol.
