Some of the cheese I like is supposed to taste like that. <grin> I am a fan

of old, old, old rat trap cheese eaten with marmalade. HOWEVER I draw the

line at that horrible cheese that is full of maggots. My gosh when I read about

p eople eating that I near died.

Actually I am not the one in the family who goes through a lot of cheese as I

am allergic to milk, not the lactose but the B3 Protein so a little piece of

cheese on a rare occassion goes a long way. My darling son though loves

cheese and I was figuring the other day that I spend $12 a week on cheese and $6

bi-weekly on eggs. This is where most of my son's protein comes from and

legumes. My best friend spends $60 a week just on beef and chicken and

sometimes

more. Not buying meat sure saves a bundle and it makes me wonder why more low

income families don't omit the meat. I originally stopped buying meat because

of the cost and then found that we were are much healthier for it - this was

10 years ago now I guess, maybe 15.

I have honestly given veganism a good shot but I am afraid it just isn't in

me as of yet. But maybe one day..... I have a great deal of respect for

those of you who are vegan and many of the recipes I use are vegan. I have a

hard

time with grains though and a lot of vegan recipes seem to be grain based. I

am referring to casseroles and main course dishes. Got any good ones that

don't have grain OR tofu in 'em?
