No, with nicotine what you're doing is self-dosing your brain chemistry to

balance the serotonin. You actually do get hyped up by the nicotine, but

you " feel " more relaxed because your brain gets adjusted away from anxiety.

 

Caffeine addiction does something similar in the brain but, oddly, with

not nearly the intensity. We don't get addicted to caffeine and

withdrawal symptoms from it are mild, including slight headaches.

Withdrawal from nicotine is considered more difficult than kicking

morphine or heroin.
