The Stewarts

> Which name bugs you?

Well, the whole thing in combination is a problem - Gwynydd is Welsh and

Culloden is, well, Scots - and I have come to the conclusion that my persona

is neither. Then there is the fact that there is no evidence of which I am

aware that people in " my " period would have used the place name Culloden as

a last name - it is only fairly recently (by my terms, 1650 is modern and

the battle was after that) that the name was really even a blip on the

radar. Until then, it was really just a patch of mud ... Add to all of

that the fact that " Gwynyyd " starts out as a place name, from there becomes

a last name, goes on to be a man's first name, and isn't used as a woman's

first name during period - and I really don't want to play the butch/femme

game *laugh*. My preferred option at the moment is Delphine of Bristol -

Delphine was a saint from Provence in the 1100's and Bristol was a major

trading port by " my " time, which is about the 1400s - or the 1500's

depending on which recipes I use and which garb I'm wearing *laugh*.
